The Palm Tree Engineering Blog Starts Here

Updated: at 06:53 AM

Palm Tree will be a feed reader for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS. It’s being built with SwiftUI, SwiftData, and modern async/await concurrency. Importantly, it is very early in development…it’s still icon-less!

Palm Tree on macOS, visionOS, and iPadOS

My current focus is making the app work left-to-right (sidebar, timeline, and article) with a local account, on macOS. The good news—for the moment—is that it’s fairly easy to switch between the different platforms to make sure things aren’t falling apart.

My aim is to release Palm Tree in late 20241. It’ll take at least that long to build and there are still some things I’d like to see added to SwiftData (indexing!) at this year’s WWDC. Hopefully, I’ll be able to release early test builds starting in the summer.

In the mean time, you can follow on Mastodon.

  1. This may be a stretch for Apple Vision Pro as it’s not available outside the United States.
